496 stroker
Starting a 454 stroker build, Going to actually be a 489 as only going .030 over. But im trying to find the specs for a marine engine. Such as ring gaps, bearing clearance, things of that nature. I have all the specs for a car engine but assume they are different for a marine application?
Not building anything crazy looking for about 600hp. Currently have brodix 119cc chamber 2.250/1880 heads, emi thunder wet at tip exhaust, and ram jet intake, mefi. Also looking for best place to order rotating assembly. I know i want full forged everything. thinking i should shoot for around 9.5-1 compression ratio. i run 90 octane fuel. engine will have all arp studs, mains, rods, and heads. Ill be doing all the work myself, minus the machine work. cam specs are currently up in the air as well if you have suggestions there? |
As far as piston to wall clearance and ring end gap, It will depend on the pistons that you use. The piston manufacturer will most likely have this information included in the box. same with rings.
As far as bearing clearances, I personally look for .0025 on the rods and .003-.0035 on the mains and have never had bearing related issues as long as the oiling system (Pump, lines, cooler) is up to the task. A little loose is better than a little tight. A Scat or Eagle rotating assy from Jegs or Summit will be plenty sufficient for what you are doing. I have bought a few from Ohio Crankshafts and have been very happy with their product as well. |
We have Scat Cranks ,Rods and JE pistons in Stock .

Sporl would be a very good option for parts.
Sorry Ron, I forgot that you keep lots of parts on hand. |
