Latham steering cap and cylinder version questions

I have 2 twin Latham bravo steering setups between my 2 boats. 1 boat has the tie plate that leaves all of the factory caps in place, I understand that this was done to retain warrantee and also will not spill fluid during install. The other setup has the cap that replaces the entire merc back cap. Is there a preference or advantage to either one? Is this a generational change? I do not see the full cap shown on their web site making me think that they may not make them anymore? I can say, from having to swap out a blown upper on the fly, the style that leaves the OEM caps in place was a pain to swap out because you need to pull 6 studs to do so.

Second question, one set of my rams has clevis ends and the other has rod ends, as Latham calls them. Same question, is there an advantage to either and is this a generational thing?

I am planning to let one of my boats go in the future and would like to keep the better parts on the one I am keeping.
