Oil lines for gen 4 454 Mag-Is is ok to replace with braided lines?
I have a pair of very mildly hopped up 88 454 Mags that the oil lines have begun leaking at the fittings. From what I am seeing online is each line is around 200 a piece and if I need to do the coolers its round 300 for that pair. Pretty much OEM is 700 bucks per motor/1400 for the pair. Is there anything stopping me from running some -10 braided lines on these. I have not dug too far in yet, but I am assuming the filter adapter and block adapter are NPT threads? I can probably replace all of the lines on 1 engine for around the price of a single OEM hose. Am I missing anything that is stopping me from going this route? Any help is appreciated!

I just looked at the chart again, not that it matters much, but I think there is actually only 3 lines on this setup since there is no oil thermostat, the cost is still quite a bit.

That's all I ever use 10AN.
I don't recommend stainless braided. Might have to change a couple fittings from steel pipe to AN fittings. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5ce34642ce.jpg |
