How to take off mufflers or de-baffle ?
3 Attachment(s)
I have a 28zx with a single 454 mag and it has either mufflers on it or baffles in the exhaust. I want to take them off since I have captains call. The local shop said that I couldnt de-baffle it and would have to replace but they want 500+ dollars. any help is appreciated.

I replaced those muffler cans with these on my 25 outlaw. Awesome tips, no muffle, sounds incredible.

What did they cost you and did you remove them and install the new ones yourself ?

I had them installed by a baja dealer/service facility. Installation wasn't that expensive. Had other things done at the same time so not sure exact price, but I'd say under $50. They sound killer compared to those muffled cans. |

Yello ...........
Their a piece of cake to change out ......... Just a few bolts and a couple clamps and your there ..... Changed my Corsa Mufflers and installed Lavorsi baffled tips .... no problems at all ....... The mufflers you have come with studs ,,,, the straight tips will require bolts .... You can find them anywhere .......... PM me if you have questions ......... Bruce |
You can "de-baffle" it but takes some work...... I used a die grinder with a long bit to remove the spot welds that hold the plate in.... Then you have to bend them in half to pull them out the back or front..... Once they are out of the way, you can grab the end of the sound suppressor coil thing and start pulling..... After about 8 feet or so of
"de-coiling" the snake is out and now you have no restriction...... I have not fired my engine yet with open exhaust but I a sure it will be loud...... TBFl |
Holy reincarnated thread!
