22 Classic What drive?

I am thinking about a project boat. The boat presently has a small block with an alpha drive. Can a brovo or XR be bolted up to the gimble? Is the alpha X dimeson lower? If a brovo can be bolted on can a shorty IMCO make up the difference?
I dont necessarly have a problem with building a small block. But I also have a 598ci, 700hp Zul and a set of stelling headers to go to the next step. The smart thing to do would be to just ride it. But a project could be fun. Right?

No, you need a new transom assembly for a Bravo. If you keep the smallblock, I'd keep the Alpha. They are faster with an Alpha. With a set of H/D gears and a drive shower, it should hold up fine. If you go big block, the Bravo would be in order.

Arneson would be very cool. Has it been done on this small of a boat? I was reading the thread about the 22 porposing. How would the Arneson affect this? I know a 20 cigarette with an extension box is verv dificult to keep in the water with a chop.

There is thread in the General Discussion area that has a Donzi X-18 that has an Arneson ASD6 drive on it. They say it works nice on it and it is sick fast.
