I have a buddy looking at this for a winter project. What do they bring in good runnin condition?

no boat is a good deal. it is jsut depends on how much it is personaly worht to u. first i would checkand see what conditioninterior is in. is everything intact except for engiens? drives? u could get a couple crate 454s to work with a boat for about 10 grand plus installation. i wouldnt touch exterior beyond minor repairs, spots, and a good buff job. gagues are a fairly easy mod as long as u get em to fit the panel. if you were to just replace the cockpit(not cabin) you would be lokin at mayb 5-6grand. if you researched, and got all teh parts at the right price, bought the boat for mayb 12-14 grand, you could come out on top. realisticaly have about 32 in it, but if it has new power and looks as new then itd be worth it.

It doesn't say if the drives are there or not. Personally, I don't see it as any money maker. By the time you repower and fix anything else that is missing or broken, you could probably have bought one that someone else already had invested the money and sweat equity in. Boats are a hobby, none of them are investments.

exaclty, never buy it as an investment or you will be very disappointed. its best to buy it for fun and plan on spending/loosing approximately 27.239 percent of teh boats value every 3 years........... :evilb:

Below is the price range from BUC. I build Superboats, but I'm also a Marine Surveyor. As the guys here said. Alot has to be taken into consideration. American Yacht Sales does'nt mention if the drives are on the boat. Just says that it has no motors.
What condition is the interior in, or the cockpit ? Are all the guages, and other mechanical parts in working order ??
All I can say is to check to see what is missing. Add all the replacement costs up, add the price of the hull. And if it comes in under, say, 30K it''s worth it.

FX10 very good advice, I am a boat broker. My thoughts is it must be seen and properly surveyed which is cheap insuranve! Then if you are fairly sure you can get it all together for 30-33K "total" then it is a decent deal.
