Didn't the ZRComp that Donzi (Gene Weeks) was running in Poker Runs last year have 575's ?
From what I know/saw it ran great.
I don't think it had yellow gauges, so I don't think it's the boat that Hideaway has for sale.

fountain333 04-07-2007 08:04 AM

yes sorry i forgot to put the link but that is the one!

The boat at Hidaway is not Gene's boat. I believe the one at Hidaway was the one from VA that killed people in another boat, dont quote me on this though. I saw the boat in person. Send me a Pm for more details. If your looking for a ZR around that price I know of a really nice one with updates still being done to it. Let me know!!

DriverofDonzi 04-07-2007 09:14 AM

I am wondering if anyone has a pic of red boat known as #18 Adrenaline Team with open cockpit?? I am very curious to see what it looks like with open cockpit!!

mine did not have the red on the bottom, as stated that boat looks like the on from VA, that had some trouble. they run 92mph with the standard lowers.. 95 with herings props, I think the sportmaster lowers are a few mph faster.

they are awesome boats!

I think this is the ZR gene campaigned last year. Looked almost the same but has a white bottom and had silver gauges. It did have 575's in it. It ran really good!

I have never owned a 38 zrc but have ridden in two of them. Both had 575's and did 92mph on the gps! :D

The boat in the pictured above is the ZR comp with 575s that Gene drove. She runs a solid 93MPH. Let me be the first to say I have never drove a Poker Run in a 38Comp I always used a stand up ZR, I could get use to driven a sit down especilly after Sarasota we ran our new ZR with 700s with 3-4ft chop and winds blowing over 18mph, Gene Weeks on Throttle and me at the wheel that boat ran better then any boat I have ever driven. We smoked by everyone and ran with the 43ZRs at 90mph with a couple of 104mph blasts and not once did I feel I was going to loose that boat she is one of the straightest running boats, solid never hit hard and just a fun boat to run, I laughed because most of the guys were complaining there legs, backs, necks hurt. I actually felt good after 200mile of wave flying. Donzi did a hell of a job on the 38ZR Comp and to me it is still one of the finest boats made today.

OL40SVX 04-07-2007 04:40 PM

Yep, once you sit down you never want to stand again!!

BryanTuvell 04-07-2007 04:43 PM

The boat pictured if it was Mark's (Va Donzi Dealer who is in prison, last I heard, a bad accident).
I will state that that boat ran STRONG at every outing.
I made an offer on that boat and he laughed at my numbers, said he would just keep it.

Frank,
That pic is Awesome! Looks like you had a great run in Sarasota!

Shanghied Again 04-09-2007 07:41 AM

Tom; Heck ya I was waiting to see if your were coming but you never made it. now I see the love for the sit down ZR just an incredible boat.

Tom A. 04-09-2007 10:31 AM

Find me one Frank.......I am counting on you!:evilb:

I should be down this weekend, I'll catch up with you.

Did you get the vest back to Jim?

Shanghied Again 04-09-2007 03:48 PM

Tom I drove both boats in a poker run a 36 gladiator and even though she is a great boat and runs good, I never drove a boat in rough conditions like that 38ZR as rough as the water was I never felt un-easy running at over 90mph she just tracks so nice! after the first 15 min of running her I can get into a sit down boat real fast. AWESOME!!

Hello Fountain333

If you look under the Club portion of OSO, under N.I.O.C., there are pictures listd under Tom and Roses new toy.

Custom Ryder was spinning the props out with no nose cones, and we went over 90 gps. When we bought the boat, we did a sea trial with two 300 lb guys in the back seats, and two 200 lb guys in the front. That was with Bravo 1's, and it hit 90 mph instantly. The speedo's were still climbing, but I was satisfied with what I saw.

Over the winter, I did change the lowers to Speedmaster lowers, and per Donzi's recommendation, switched the rotation, so the props now spin in. Per Donzi, the speed difference will be big. I need to test to see the new resulting rpm and speed data results are. I will then put Herrings on. There is another one of these on OSO, with the same set up that I just went to, that runs 98 mph. The acceleration is awsome.

The factory white & red ZRC that Jim Weeks drove is at the factory being completely rebuilt, probably done by now. We called on the ZRC down at Hideaway and were told it was never involved in an accident and was being sold due to fuel and insurance costs. The boat is supposed to be an 8 out of 10 and a trailer is available. Anyone looking at buying this boat check the HIN with Donzi to confirm the prior ownership.

I looked at the boat at Hideaway and it is not an 8 out of 10. More like a 5 or 6. Gene Week's boat is still being completed to my knowledge. It's going to be a great deal for someone.

Tom A. 04-26-2007 07:31 AM

I almost made a deal on the zrc @ Hideaway and then stopped.
To my knowledge, that is the boat that was in volved in the fatal accident where the driver of it ran over the transom of an anchored cruiser. I am told that Donzi put a whole new bottom on that boat.

Donzi38ZR 04-26-2007 09:58 AM

[QUOTE= I am told that Donzi put a whole new bottom on that boat.[/QUOTE]

Not sure if it's the boat or not... but I can tell you this last statement is not correct.
