38 ZX props

I have a 2000 38 ZX with 525SC's and was wondering what props work best on this boat. Right now i have a set of B1 29's and see about 78 at 5200 and i also have a set of 28 inch 5 blade herrings that get me to about 74/76 at 5200. also what rotation works best i am turning in right now. Thanks all

i have same model year and boat but 500 efi's. boat runs 75 fresh water. b1's have been best i have tested. i run 28's for cruise & 26's for top speed. can tell u p5x's are terrible on these donzi's. tempted to try some maximus's but concerned if the drives will handle the load on this heavy a boat.

Try labbed 30's spinning inward...went through this with a '00 525SC boat...best speed was 80-point-something mph on the Chesapeake Bay. Get as much air into the engine-room as possible.

Glassdave,

I run 26P non-labbed bravo's with XR drives. I have 500EFI's and consistantly hit 75 at 5200 (GPS). Ted.
BTW - Did you get my PM.

oh yea, sorry Ted. been swamped the last few days and it sliped my mind. I havent found anything yet for the plotter that wont stress it but i'll find something.

thanks for the replys, i have had a sweet set of labed B1's on this boat before and saw 80 point something too. those props were stolen and the replacements just werent the same. I will check into getting more air to the engine compartment.

will the 5 blades stress the drives more than the 4's even though its faster with the 4's?

Glassdave,

I have heard that the 5-blades do NOT do well on our hulls. Plus I think 5-blades would be hard on the drives (Especially standard Bravo drives). The boats are just too heavy. Ted.

Skip the 5-blades....

I have had great succes over the last few years with 5B props on the boats. Either props can produce great top end with the appropriate drive heigth.
