Big cruiser you should not use the steering wheel to dock.

Twin I/O you need to use the wheel.

Not true. I have 200+ hours on my twin I/O, and I have NEVER used the wheel when docking, (unless coming in on one motor).

Props spinning in does give you less control. (Mine are out.)
Staggered setups give you even less control since the props are so close together, you lose leverage, and almost have a single engine boat's control properties.

I never use my wheel either... But everyone has their own way.. This Donzi is not staggered. It just backs up like crap. Hard to drive into the dock too unless you are using both engines and going too fast to dock. But it is not mine.. If it were, I would change to rotation and see what happens. I guess it can't get enough air in the steps with outward rotation?? If I had this power in my old Fountain, I would be grinning from ear to ear.

Mine turn "in", and what I've found that helps
is having the drives trimmed slightly positive.

This helps by directing the reverse thrust downward
under the hull instead of tossing it upward toward the transom, when trimmed fully "in".

It works better than having the drives tucked, but it's
still doesn't maneuver as good as outside rotation.

Make sure the tabs are ALL the way up. They add more drag going in reverse the further they are down. I get the best results including backing up with the drives set at exactly neutral.

I agree. I found that it helps on my ZR with my drive drives up near to or neutral.
