Everyone I meet who owns a Baja is usually very happy with it. Then there are the ones who owned one and moved on to bigger and better ie. Cigs, but they still speak highly of Baja.
The Baja "Haters" I run into are usually fools to begin with. Whatever they have if they have anything, they think is the best and it's usually 10-15yrs old and needs constant work but it's not a Baja so that makes them happy.! |
Turboed, trust me I've heard all the crap people talk but the funny thing is you usually wont find someone that has actually owened a Baja talk sh!t about them. I've owned this boat since new and have had it in some REALLY big water. Like I said, the water where I live is average 6-8 footers and I'm not exagerating. Ask anyone that's boated here or just look at the pics from the Ventura races I posted on the main board.
The only stress cracks on my boat are at the corners of the windscreen...That's it! I get nothing but compliments when people run with me about how well it handles the big water for a small boat. I love the boat and would keep it but I'm moving up. I would be staying with Baja but I've wanted a Cig since I was 11 and I'm in a position to buy now so once my boat is gone I'll be moving on. But I don't have a negative comment about Baja. Great riding/running boat |
baja 25 Outlaw won the World Championship in Key West in 2001. The boat was P5-25 raced by Thunder Marine from St. Pete

I haven't had any problems with mine, got around 300hrs. on it,and have not been real easy on it,don't get me wrong I take damn good care of it but it's four years old and looks brand new that has to say Baja builds a good product.

This is my third Baja, and I hope to buy a 33' Outlaw one of these days. The quality gets better year after year.As far as the 25' goes I don"t see how a boat in that size range could handle rough water any better, there comes a time where it's still a 25' boat and you can't ask a hell of a lot more out of it.I also think people have differing opinions on how to gauge what a 2' chop is and a 4'chop.There now I'll step down off my soapbox |
Most people that bash, have never ridden in a newer baja. It is cool to some people to jump on the bandwagon of the high doller boat club. That's fine, those of us who know laugh at the ignorance. My 232, 25 OL, and 29 OL, have all been rock solid.

Daze land the reest of the guys....I could not agree more. I have had two Baja's
and would buy another in a heartbeat...I currently own a 02 H2X and love it as much as my new wife (hope she does't read this!!!)..anyway weather it is a h2x outlaw, or a 275, I personally don't know a Baja owner that isn't totally happy...I know there are some but I am yet to meet them....Considering all aspects of the boat such as cost, features etc...they just can't be beat in value. Just me .02 worth |
I've had my '98 for two seasons now. I think it is the best single engine "sport boat" available. After all, I think that people in this class dream of blazing in a offshore 36+ footer someday, and the 25 is actually designed after a larger offshore cig style boat. (36 Outlaw to be exact) Win, Win if you ask me.
Plus, Outlaws look so fu@#in cool. |
U know I am on my 2nd baja. I have never riden in any other boat but I will tell you what I have put my 25 outlaw thru some **** that would scare most guys and I have never had any problems with it, I will always be a DIEHARD Baja fan,and to those that are talking **** on Baja's KISS MY ASS PRETTY BOY

If you hate drawing a crowd, don't get an Outlaw

Donzi 38
:violent-smiley-045: So out of 1000s and 1000s of boats Baja sells they have a few pages of complaints i would say that is pretty damn good. They are the best selling performance boat on the market for a reason . And i was just showing what five minutes of time and research comes up with for happy outlaw owners. Oh and does Donzi have a forum like Baja if so direct me there so i can see they complaint forums.

Sorry started all this
I started this post I guess it got a liitle out of hand. My first offshore style preformance boat was my H2X. Dont get me wrong it is a great boat to start off. Where I boat here in Cape Cod MA waters can get tough and I need a better boat for these waters. I have done hours of reseach on both models and hands down the Donzi 26 zx wins over the outlaw (have you ever been in a Donzi?). When I first started looking for a new boat I was going to stay with Baja I called 2 dealers both told me they would not even consider a trade for my boat since it had been in salt water ! What the F#ck these are suposed to be "offshore" boats, but I guess you cant take them offshore if you ever want to trade them in. So I moved on and found that Donzis are resonable priced for what you get. Dont get me wrong I love my Baja but I need a boat that can be used offshore not in Lakes and ponds. To end it all I think boating in general is a great hobby and everyone is entitled to there on style and taste.

I think you may be a bit disappointed though, but take a look, there are some great folks on the site.... Beyond that my friend.....Ya really need to take a deep breath, count to 10, & let it go....It's all good....I have a good friend that runs an 02 25 OL, he loves it, & yes, it is a nice boat....End of discussion. You obviously are very happy with Bajas, & that is great, from what I've seen of them, they are very nice boat....But.....so are many other brand of boats. It's all what makes your boating season, a pleasure. This is my first year in "performance boating", & we had the "PRIVELEDGE" of boating with many different brands of boats, but one thing they ALL had in common....The folks on the boat were alot of fun to get to know & be with...All summer long, I never got into or even heard a conversation of who's boat is better....Like I said...It's all good, just enjoy that fact that you are part of a great boating community....One more thing, I do hope this will not deter you from stopping to render aid to someone broke down in a Donzi, or any other brand....because no matter what brand boat you have....they ALLLLL break down.....:D |
another donzi forum for the older 40 year old donzi does baja have a forum for their 40 year old boats??? sorry couldn't resist
www.donzi.org I have been in both a 25 outlaw and a 26zx both nice boats both 502 boats both a big step up in ride from my small classic but the 26 zx rode bigger and the step hull learning curve is needed all boats and mfg have problems i don't know about Baja's customer service but from what I have seen donzi customer service seems to get the issue resolved everyone has a boat that fits their needs, weather it is money, ride ,speed, image, style personally when I move up I will move up to an old school type of boat a spitfire or cig firefox or 28 ss, magnum 27 and give up speed of the newer technolgy for the ride and style of an older boat and having just gotten a ride in a 38zr that was an awesome boat that might fit my needs if I hit the lottery tonite ;) |

I sell both Donzi and Baja, Before I sold boats I looked at both boats they are both nice boats and the 26ZX was more money, The test was when I went to take the boats for a test ride. The Baja dealer was right next to the inlet in Point Pleasant and refused to take the 25 Outlaw in the Ocean he had more excuses. The Donzi dealer in Somers Point had no Issues and we went out. well I was sold on the boat as soon as we hit the 4ft rollers and launched that boat several times she didn't miss a beat and did not beat the daylights out of me so bought her. I still own my 2001 26ZX but I have one major change a brand ne 500/580hp engine with a Teague Platnium drive now instead of 66mph I am running 78 GPS

I can't beleive this guy, he needs to take a ride in a Donzi then maybe he will see the light
|
I wonder if stevez bought a Donzi yet?
|
SteveZ, I am assuming that I know who you are, so when you want to take a ride in a real boat let me know.
|
wow, isnt stevez just an angry little baja owner.... dont feel too cheated though pal cause there are plenty of nice donzi's out there for sale. and i think its kind of cute that your on a go fast boat website with a baja islander... does it have a porta pottie for your wife and kids? your just an angry person in general, here we are just having a good time comparing boats and you hafta go ape-**** about how much a "baja budget boat" is obviously the best cork on the water. Go test ride a donzi in some tough seas, cause obviously you never have.

Wich Is The Best? 33zx With 496 Or 35zr With 496? Thanks They were fantastic boats, not that the Zr's are'nt , but the Zx's had more space.. The Zr's will be faster than the Zx's were with the same power though so that is a nice bonus being that you give up some space.. Also an FYI Im not sure how much longer you will be able to get the 496 engine as they are phasing that out & releasing a new 8.2L.. You may want to consider a 525 set up in a 35zr.. It is a rocket!! Good luck on your quest, both the Zx & Zr models are great boats.. :) Jamie / Lakeside . |
