27 zr..

I took the day off yesterday so instead of Christmas shopping I stopped by my local Donzi dealer to look at a used 288 Sunsation and came out desperatly wanting a new 27 ZR!!!

In the showroom was a new 27 zr and I had to check it out. I was under the impression this was a sit down boat with no freeboard and would be uncomfortable. Man I was way off. I am 6' tall and 230# and I squeesed right into that bolster and it felt GOOOD. Dropped down the seat and it felt even better! I stood behind the front seats and I was comfortable standing directly behind the seats and didn't feel like the cockpit was too shallow at all. The grab handles were in the perfect places for a seure feeling. I felt like I was home. The cabin was a bit tight for me (not much headroom) but I layed in the v-birth and feet didn't even dangle.

Next to it was a 28 zx so I hopped on that one. It was hard to believe they are from the same company so many differences from the helm to the seats. I liked it a lot too but I do not care for a twin engine boat right now. But if I was that would be in my top 3 to look at.

I am so exited about the ZR. It just felt like a sports car I bet it is a blast to run. I wonder how it would handle the Chesapeake compared to other boats in it's size (Sunsation, 26 Baja, Velocity)?

I have some business to take care of before I step up to my next boat. I am definatly going to keep looking at the ZR and keeping my fingers crossed.

Out of all the brand you mentioned the ZR stacks up pretty well. It probably runs better than them. See, you shouldnt believe all you read on here!!

I was refering to posts on here in the past about the 27 ZR having no freeboard and an strictly sit down boat, which its not as you have seen!!

Okay, Thanks for the clarification.

Yup not the case at all. As a matter of fact it is more comfy for me than a Fountain for sure.

I also was wondering about the 27zr. I think it would be a good step up from my 22zx. My question , are the graphics the same for the newer 27 s as the first couple years.? I just couldn't get into the side graphics on them, all the same and little to mild!

That's the one Jamie.

Are you guys still in some sort of business together?? (Boat listing etc) I like the ZR a lot. I need to sell my boat first. If you know anyone in the market for a 58mph bow rider let me know. It's clean with a new (Reman.) 5.8l ,CMI exhaust & DP drive.

I like the graphics on the ZR. The Donzi marketing is not to good on illustrating the color choices and designs on their web site and dealer literature. I would do a search on boattrader.com to see some other 27 Zr's colors and graphics. They are not as good as a Sunsation graphics but the boat is so good looking it doesn't need them.

Here are a few. My wife's favorite is the Blue and Silver boat which is the same as our current boat.
