awesome!!

DAAAAANNNGGGG!!!! I guess those boys in Bulgaria know their boats.
|
Wonder who is going to fix it in Bulgaria when it needs service! Mercury can be a hassle here in the USA, can't imagine waiting for parts to be shipped to Bulgaria!
Killer boat, good speed number....... |
Clark (crb76) and I talked with Craig for quite a while in Jacksonville. The new PR tour boat (the orange one) and this boat have some WICKED new stuff to them, and are the first couple boats built with Craig's oversight in the new Donzi Custom arena.
They have a very promising future. Tim G. (Cigarette) also stated that when a boat like such goes overseas, it often goes with a big crate full of parts and sometimes full spare power setups. Also, it is common for an individual with several boats, to hire and train his own mechanic. Or, several individuals in one area will hire and train a dedicated mechanic, and split the cost/expenses of this resource. |
Cool!
|
you know....i was going to ask if the donzi website was wrong when they listed the 850 & 1075's as being available in the 38 comp.....im glad it was not a typo.
|
Those ZRComps are very cool! That boat must accelerate like a rocket!
|
OUCH... black is tough! 132mph with 1075's (and I assume #6 drives) must be a helluva ride! Doesn't a dialed in 700 boat with with NXTs run in the neighborhood of 105mph?
Both a 38ZRc and 36' Cigarette Gladiator with 750's and Bravos runs 111mph. What are the thoughts of current and past Donzi 38ZRc owners with regard to purchasing a used Donzi ZRc vs a used Cig Glad with equal power and drive configuration? |
700's run 114ish...
|
Scott B,
I should have been more specific in my question and comparison. The new bottom Donzi Competition with 700s and NXTs may run 114mph, but the previous bottom was a little less efficient. Here's a link to a fair example: http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18306-en.html When comparing a used Cig Gladiator to a used Donzi Comp I'm referring to older models as the Gladiator was discontinued several years ago and like model year boats run about the same speed and command similar price. Any thoughts you can share? Thanks, Dan

I have been in both and bought a 2003 38 Comp. Hands down the the 38 Comp gives you more boat for the money. Performance wise, the Comp runs same top end roughly as the Gladiator however the handling and the feel are different. I have been in a Comp carving turns @ over 100 mph and it was glued to the water. You also sit deeper in the Comp and have better bolstering in all the seats. The rear seat in the Comp is far superior to the 90 degree rear seat of the Gladiator. The Comp is bigger all around too.
Now I am not bashing the Gladiator, both were on my short list when shopping for my boat. I am a big fan of Cigarette and love the look of the Gladiator. Last thing, I love the look of no rub rail on the Glad, but I have already "rubbed" the rub rail on my Comp and was glad I had it. As far as speed between the "old" Comp hull and the new Comp hull. Typhoon Service Center ran a 700 nxt boat last year and saw 115. Back in 2003 they ran one with 750 Cobra's and hit 112. So, at best I would say there is a 5 mph difference in the hulls. I run 100+ mph with 575's bumped to 625. |

Are you running stock XR's and have you had many drive failures? |
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Tom A. That's exactly the kind of info I was hoping to hear.

I am hoping for the best! I am not sure what I will upgrade to if something major does happen. |

Yes they are stock Xr's. They are new '07 models, I bought the boat in October '07 and they had a couple of runs on them when I bought it. I have put a half a dozen runs on them so far and I have had one cone clutch get stuck in drive but no other damage.

Thanks for the offer... I'd really like to take you up on it! My shore house is on a lagoon in Toms River over by Gary (aka Superbabi). I live in North NJ.

I have a 2004 w/ 575's, and simply put, I love the boat. But...That 1075 version is the chit!!!!!
