well, i have been bouncing back and forth looking for somthing, i wanted a donzi 26 or 28, a baja 25 or 29 outlaw a 26 sutphen or a 25-28 eliminator. those where my main things.

the eliminator is out the 25 is to small not a good ocean boat and the 28 is to much coin.

very hard to find a 29 outlaw single screw.

it has to be single screw, if its a 28 it has to be the high HP single, i want a good boat, not beat up the more white the better, im not much for graphics, i dont want a modified boat, i want a stocker so i can make the modifications my own way.

right now im working on a deal on a 26 single screw sutphen.
im going to look at it this weekend, if it falls threw i will continue looking

High hp single is a good way to go.

You will have a hard time finding an older big single with low time that is a stocker. Most of them run mid 60's and therefore get modified.

It takes a good amount of power to extract speed from a non-step Baja.

You could get Donzi with a higher time 502 and freshen it to the equivalent of a 500 EFI. Dialed in right and you will see 70-72 and it will be strong. Then add boost and you will be in the 80's

How fast does the 28 stepped bottom run with twin small blocks? For example the one new to the classifieds with 350's?

Here is my old 1999 I installed a wake-up on the single 502 on a good day with some chop 79 GPS mph and handles like it was on rails.

I agree with ZXXX

You are not far off. It depends on the driver. I know some that say the scorps can do 81 and others that say it chine walks bad at 75. I would think that a good driver could get the mags to 70. I like the twins and they have their place. They just cost a bunch to get big numbers.

for instance, I think that the scorps are a cool boat and should be bullet proof. That being said, Bryan Rose has 10+ mph on a twin Scorp most days and he only has one engine. He can beat on it hard and it drives like it is on rails.

Nice looking setup. I wonder where that ended up. I always thought that a whipple would be a good addition to that setup.

Question-

Did your single 28ZX have a bottom strake that went all the way back?

I can't remember if it went all the way back or not, I sold the boat to a guy in Ohio. I sold it for 48K. The whipple / superchiller/ tuning was almost 12G's but worth every penny. She sounded sweet on the top.
