------Hi guys,,,Thats not a sixteen as evidenced by the "barrel-back" transom design. No 16 ever built that way. Its not a 1972 18 as that particular so called "barrel-back" construction ended around 1967. As well, I have never seen an 18, barrel-back or not that was 6-cylinder powered. That part, of course, could have been changed. Altogether a real puzzler you have there. It will be interesting to see what that boat was along with its history if found........Bill S
------Just looked a bit closer and there is no gutter around the edge of the engine hatch hole. Also, no provision for hatch hinges, and if the deck is still gel-coat, which I doubt, there is no grab rail or rubrail or holes that they would have been attached with. Any 18 from that era would have had the rubrail and the grab rails down both sides of the cockpit. |
what is it then?

------If you are asking for a guess I would say its not a DONZI but a DONZI copy. There were pops made of the early DONZI hull in Canada. I want to say they were done somewhere up around Muskoka, but Im not posative on that. There have also been many, many more pops made here in the US over the years but none that I recall were popped off of the "barrel-back" hull design, although that could conceivably have happened..........Bill S
------As well,,,The "barrel-back" 18 DONZIs had a sharp keel all the way to the keel. Later 18 DOMZIs had a rounded chine or keel. Maybe this will help with the determination. I cant quite see by the pictures which keel this hull has.... |
drove by the boat this w-end. boat is still there! if anyone interested!
