35 Zr

There seem to be a fair amount of new or barely used Donzi 35 ZR's on the market with 496's. What kind of speeds can you expect with these and what would be the most reliable outdrive to have with it? Do you think the 496's would make resale even more difficult? I know, I shouldn't even be thinking about resale and I should expect to own the boat until I die.

I have never even riden in one but the looks alone are giving me the itch to buy.

Give Scott at shipyard marine a call 920-232-9500. Shipyard has a real nice used 35 ZR, as well as a new 009 limited edition 35 ZR.

You are correct, there are plenty of boats on the market, truly a buyers market. I have been looking to buy a boat w/700's but just snagged up a 38ZR w/525's only because I got it below market value. I highly recommend you consider a 525 boat, only because 496 is not as desirable should you decide to upgrade in the future. If you are like most of us, you will want more speed!
Best of luck.

GK, thanks for the input. My head is spinning as I am relatively new to this...would be my first boat. I am just thinking that the maint would be easier / less expensive on 496's. I am not very mechanically inclined so I will be at the mercy of the service guys. I am a boat dealer's dream client!!

Plus, the wife and kids really don't need to go faster than 75mph:drink:

Depending on the conditions you want to run in and the budget you have. A 35 ZR with 496 ho engines will run over 80 and will be plenty for a first boat for the family. The cockpits and cabin are about the same sizes on the 35 and 38, it just comes down to how fast you want to go and how much you are willing to spend. I think the 35 is much more common to have ho engines.

There are three or four 08 35zr's in the 170-180K range.

I know Formula limits the bottom prices that the Dealers are allowed to post online for new boats, but if you call the dealer direct they can give you their best offer, which is lower. I don't know if Donzi does the same? Might be worth a call.

xConn,

This is Scott at Shipyard Marine in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I have the two 35's Donzi Andy posted and would be happy to give you the scoop on both. The '08 was used locally and has about 35 hours on her. She comes with custom paint, trailer, and all the other goodies. With HO's you'll have nice top-end in the high 70's.

Give me a call if you're interested or just want more info!

Best,
Scott From Shipyard

Xconn-

It's worth your while to talk to Scott at Shipyard. Being a Donzi owner I recently met him, he is a super fair honest guy.
All the best.

GK,

Thanks for the remarks! I hope the new trailer works out well for you! Hopefully we'll be able to see you out on the water at the Poker Run up here this spring!

Best,
Scott
