DONZI ZR and ZX - Whats the difference ?
I had a 1999 28 ZX before and I'm boat shopping again now and have come across a 28 Donzi ZR. What is the difference between the ZX and ZR. Thanks for any info everyone.

Are you sure it is not a 27ZR? The 28ZR does not exist.
A 28ZX is much bigger than a 27ZR. A 27ZR is in some respect (other than length) smaller than a 26ZX. |
No such thing as a 28 ZR............its a 27.

Yep.. No 28 Zr. Its either a 27 Zr or a 28 zx.. ;)

The 27ZR is a different hull then the 28ZX. Lighter, lower and thinner. Kevlar deck and with a single 496HO will run 74MPH. The 28ZX with twin 350 Mags will run 70mph. The 27ZX is different hull then the 28ZX re-designed in 2001 to match is little brother the 26ZX by adding length to the nose, the back and the cockpit are identical on the 26ZX and the 28ZX.. The two boats that are almost the same length are the 26ZX and the 27ZR but the 26ZX is still has more weight on her then the 27ZR and with a 496HO runs 64MPH 10mph slower then the 27ZR.. The 26ZX has a little more creature comforts and a higher, wider hull..

I also looked at 27ZR's because they can be found cheap used... The 27ZR is better compared to a 22 classic than a 28ZX. If you want bigger, more modern, and a small cabin 27ZR. if you want classic lines and an easier boat to trailer go with a 22. The 28 is a far bigger boat than the 27ZR. |

I have done quite a bit of research on this. Although I haven't personally compared a 27ZX and a 28ZX side by side, everything I have read and seen show that the bottoms of the two boats are identical. The hull dates back to mid 1997. You can find 1997 27ZX twin step and non stepped boats.

We have swapped boats a few times. They handle similar. We run the same drive height. My xdim is lower than his but he has a shorty. His comes out of the hole better. My ZX is a 99. I think that they made some changes after that. I am pretty good on the 99 and earlier ZX's. After that, Shangheid and these guys can articulate the differences. I have also owned a 27ZX non-step. It was 3#'s off Brian Rose's 27ZX twin step. |
Thanks for the info everyone. This is the one I'm looking at:
http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...-SERIES-390356 I liked how my 28ZX looked pretty big and was deep in the cockpit. Seems like this 27ZR is more of a lower profile. |
