New to the Donzi world Need some help
I just purchased a 2002 donzi zr competition. It is rigged w/ side by side twin 875hp w/ bravo xr s w/ 2 inch shorties. Does anybody know what pitch prop i should start. 5 blade or six blade. Thank You

Hi Chris. I have an 03 Comp with staggared motors. I know the boats like a 5 blade prop, not sure of the 6 blade or what pitch you will need. Also, I am running standard length Xr's on mine. I have the boat that was the Donzi in house boat from 03-07. They tried many different combos on it and found this was best. Again, staggared vs. side by side could be different.

What kind of HP do you have? What size props are you running now? Thank you

you may want to consider droping hp... blowers?
|
Yes they are blower motors.

White - red, Cobra powered?

I have twin Ron Potter 700+ hp's. They are built up from from 575's. I am running 34" pitch 5 blade Herrings turning in. The boat runs great, jumps on plane and I have seen over 115mph. I have blown the XR's a couple times now and am trying a set of Kryogenic frozen gears this summer and keeping my fingers crossed. I am trying to save my pennies and eventually get a pair of Arnesons.

Just upped my membership. Here's a few pics!
Pics 1 & 2 are from Nov. '07 when I bought the boat. IT is an '03 that was Donzi's in house boat until I bought it. Pic. 3 eventually led to pic 4! :lolhit::eek: |

I wish I could find the pic of the other side of it, the whole top corner is missing!:party-smiley-004:

Hey tom thanks for the info. What gear ratio you running? I plan on turning the boat into a staggered setup next year. and getting rid of the bravos and getting # 6 s
|
I am running 1.50 gears. Before you go #6, talk to Rik at Arneson. They have done several Comps. with outstanding results. There is the sister of your boat racing in Europe that dominated the P1 circuit last year. It was originally a side/side and converted to staggared w/ Arnesons. There are a couple #6 boats out there two but I hear the boat likes the Arnesons better. I believe they are lighter and give a little more stern lift. When I talked with the guys from Europe at the Worlds, they said they hardly trim and rarely touch the tabs. They loved the set up.

Thank you.

Every boat is an expensive project. Yeah if I could buy an NXT boat for 190K, it means I am getting 100 or less for mine. The Arneson conversion soup to nuts is 50K.

Het tom what kind of RPM s are you spinning. Thanks
|
5400ish

If you want some help post your WOT RPM and WOT MPH and we can run some numbers for you. Julie |
Just getting the boat together. The motors are 875 hp 810 ft t at 6300 rpm. Trying to spin a prop around that rpm. Drive ratio is 1.5 Thank you, Chris

Whould you know price comparison of Arneson VRS#6's? thanks!
The Arneson kit is complete and includes everything from the bell housing rearward. Lot less $, far less weight along with lower hp loss and of course more speed. |

I would say around 112 MPH with a 32P 5B Semi-cleaver style propeller, like ours. I don't know if your drive is the correct height, for a 6B propeller.
I can tell you that the newer Donzi's run phenomenal with a 6B! Julie |
