The boat had not had a service...had not been washed, 1/8" of dust over complete boat..... (it had not been cleaned since it last was floating...you know the build up you see after a good float near a marina) .
They did get it running and a wash I heard, but after seeing the trailer and how the boat was generally taken care of (or not) .... I killed the deal. Maybe a right choice maybe not...???? but I know the motor/drive combo is miss-matched and the life of this stuff really depends on how you drive it and how you maintain it and I could only assume if the owner kept the things I can "see" like this then how did he really maintain the big HP motors and drives... didn't want to speculate or ignore the obvious. Did that once before on a 2000 Cig and I regretted the choice more then a few times.... The owner has 6, 8, 10 boats and toys and has the means????? He owns a marina I hear.....to hard to make a call to the marina and get the boat out of storage and clean her up? None of my business I know, but I've sold 11 boats in the last 16 years.... I know they run, they are clean and ready when a buyer comes to view/test drive it, ready for a surveyor.....they are always ready.......First impression is the last impression, right?

Broker who represented the boat is a good guy and tried real hard to make me happy...... he did not have full control of the sale(boat at his location) so he was basically at the mercy of the owner and what he wanted to do....or not do
That guy has been selling that boat and frustrating buyers off an on for 10 years. You just never known when you are going to run into a seller that has no regard for other people's time. Been there done that.

Back in 2002 I had my heart set on a 28 ZXO. One came up for sale by a Marina owner in Sarasota that he advertised as "Mint!" I told the guy over and over that I was particular about my boats and to please not waste my time if his boat was not in the mint condition as advertised. He said over and over again that the boat was in "showroom new condition" - "fly on down, you won't be disappointed." So my wife and I hop on a plane from Indy and fly down to Sarasota. We show up at the Marina and they say the owner is busy but an employee is going to show us the boat. Sadly, the boat is a pos. I cannot believe that a two year old boat can look so trashed. We get the story from the employee that the owners son has used the boat as his personal water toy for two seasons. It basically sat outside on a lift with no cover on it a lot of the time. The seats actually squished when you sat on them because they had so much moisture coming out. The boat had dock rash all over it, fading paint. Instead of being mint it looked like a 10 year old poorly treated very used boat.

I knew within 30 seconds that I wasn't going to buy it but when the employee asked if we wanted a test ride I was like, sure!. So all was not lost as we got to troll around Sarasota Bay in some pretty good chop. Him driving, me driving, him driving again. We really enjoyed the test ride and while were impressed by how much better the 28 ZXO rode than the 27 Checkmate that I owned at the time, I pretty much decided right there that I really wanted something bigger than a 28.

So we get back from the test ride and the owner is there to greet us and says, "What do you think?" So I point out the multitude of issues with his alleged "mint boat" and his reply, "What did you expect - it's a used boat!"

Small word. I got a call from Randy Hartman, the former owner of Lake Cumberland Marine. I guess Randy is back in the boat business and he says he took the 04 ZRC in on trade last week. Said he'll be listing it shortly.

Default Shelby Blue Donzi ZRC

I bought the Blue Donzi ZRC from the dealer in Wisconsin. It's now a Beast! I recently installed Whipple Stage 2 Superchargers to the stock 525's. It also was in this years Winter Poker Run and the Key West Poker last year. It won the reward for best V Hull. I can tell you it was definitely the fastest V hull there though a small turn out. The fasted I've had it so far, keep in mind I just installed the Whipple's is 108 mph on 36" pitch Maximus props. Jimmy from FJ Propellers says I probably have another 10-15 mph to go with Herring's. I'm sure she will do 115mph with the Maximus's in calm waters. As for as the boat goes in my opinion it's the best looking 38 ft V Hull ever made. Wherever I take it even when parked next to boats 5 times it value it draws the crowd. I also doubt there are many V hulls out there that can match it's 40 to 100 mph times. It's definitely not For Sale!

Congrats! and welcome to the club! My motors are 700hp and with the IMCO drives and 35 5 blades, I see right around 110 if I really run it out. Like you said, they are a beast from 40-100 and that is how I have mine propped. How often do you really run above 85-90 anyway, I'd rather have the acceleration.

You should bring it to the FPC Tampa Bay poker run next month and we could run together.
