Default blackhawk 22 classic

talk to me!anyone on this hallowed forum had one or got any real expierience of them.from what i can work out from trawling old threads in no order at all is this-(please add your thoughts or correct me)

porpoise more than normal unless big speed
need to drag the tabs
difficult in marina/high idle mph
faster than eqiv non blackhawk drive(80mph gps)
dont take the chop/airtime well/poss break shafts
some parts are scarce but most are interchangeable with bravo and bravo111
reliable and robust generally as long as not pushed hp wise
hydraulic steering a must have

particulary would like to know about running in the chop-is this possible? thanks

I've had my blackhawk for approx. 7 yrs, havent driven a non-blackhawk, so cant really compare. Bought a bigger boat, so selling it, another than that i would be keeping it. Generally speaking, its a drivers boat. The idle speed is a little a fast and takes some getting used to. I never had a problem getting around the docks though. Needs to be trimmed and tabbed, but not a big deal and rides great for a 22' boat in chop. Boat cruises well at 45-55, even in chop. I could see how airtime could be an issue if not getting off the throttle when running hard, but thats an easy solution.... get off the throttle. Mine runs 75 all day, have had to 78 in perfect conditions. I dont have hydrualic steering, IMO its not an issue, im sure some opinions may vary though. Ive heard parts are scarce, but wouldnt know from experience, havent had any problems. Keep mine well maintained and runs great year after year. I added gil exhaust and reprogrammed PCM, everything else is stock.

Propellers are getting extremely rare. So are the specialized tools. Your wife (if applicable) may not be too happy with you if it is your only boat. Carefully review the stringers (especially at the engine mounts) and the transom for rot. Mine has problems and I have heard of others with the same condition.
