I just got my 22 Classic last year. The trim pump for the tabs went out like a week after I bought it (and I never fixed it) so I actually went the whole year without any tabs. It was actually a pretty good learning experience and I look forward to running it this year with tabs.
Its a great boat and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I run with guys who have much bigger, faster, newer boats and guess who everybody wants to ride with...the Donzi 22! In fuel I'll go through in a day what they do in a half hour. Mine has the carbed 454 mag and runs at 68-70 depending on fuel load. The only tip I can give you is to trim that drive to the moon and it will fly! Mine shoots a nice liitle roost so I can imagine with the shorter X dimension that thing will be sweet. This picture was taken as I was going through the other boat's wake, but honestly it feels like this is how you are runing all the time! I can't wait for spring! http://images2.snapfish.com/23232323...A2%3A258ot1lsi |
keep in mind with every picture you see of an engine in a 22 classic that yours is an inch higher.
The headers shown in the pics above will rub against the hatch in a 1987. It won't rub bad but will rub. MPI should fit but just beware before doing anything that you will notice a difference. I was shown pictures of a standard HP500 (carb) in a 22 and that it was a no problem fit. Well, it won't fit in a 1987 without a much shorter air cleaner and it will still rub even with finding the flattest bolt possible to bolt the cleaner onto the carb and running a barry grant w/o choke. |

That's why I was asking because my 26zx with a 502 mpi is still under wraps to measure it. But the carbed 454 in the 22 seems very tight to the hatch with a very thin arrestor.
In good condition what would a 87 22 be worth? More with the mpi vs carb? |
87's LE's are special boats, unique color scheme and nice windscreen, whats the hull # ? I had an '87 LE 18 and an '87 LE Minx 20

Congrats you have pictures?
Been looking for a 22 and I was not aware there was a special edition. What is different in the special edition from the other 22's built that year? Is that a more desired model to have? |
Number 23 of 25
Anyone know a value... I'm trying to convince my better half that 1. I needed another boat.... Because what's better than one.. Two 2. I got a good deal on it. |
