Donzi search

I'm looking at a 2004 ZX with twin 525's and a 2005ZR with 496 HO's. Does anyone have any recommendations? My main objective is speed and reliability. I currently have a Baja Outlaw with 496's and they've proven to be very reliable. I don't have any experience with the 525's.

What size Zx?

The 35 Zr with the 496's will be slightly faster than than a 525 38 Zx and probably even a 33Zx.

I have been on them all, the main difference is performance Vs. utility.
The Zx is a wider taller boat that has more cabin space and cockpit space. It is a good combination of family friendly, entertaining, and performance.
The Zr is more performance orientated and has less cabin head room and cockpit space. It however will run circles around the Zx with SAME horsepower.
That said, it is also a very efficient hull and you should get great fuel economy and speed with the 496's. With 525's the Zr ran 90+ mph. You should see low 80s in a 496 boat.
My friend's 33Zx ran low 70's with 496's and with 525's it should hit 80. The 38Zx with 525's will be just under 80mph.
Both Zx hulls ride well and are built like tanks. They ride much bigger than their size. Technically the 33Zx is almost a 35' boat and the 38Zx is 39'.

Hope that helps.

Yes, it does. Thank you. To clarify, I am looking at a 33ZX and a 35ZR. I left that part out. The cost of the two is similar, sounds like the ZR is the way to go.

i just resently got my 33 zx with 500 efi's and with 4 adalts 1/2 tank gas in a 2 foot chop pulled 82 out. so with that sead i think u could probly get upper 80s low 90s with the 525s . and u r right about the size and ride. varry roomie and rides like a champ compared to my old 26 mach 1

Congrats on your 33zx, they are awesome.
With 50 more hp, you will only get another mph or two.
Remember the 496 HO is only 425hp so you have 150hp more so there would be a huge difference.
82 is a great number for that boat.
