Donzi New Owners Baja
Hey everyone,
I wanted to bring up the new merger of Donzi and Baja... I had mixed emotions run over me when I found out that they would be leaving my; and their home town of Sarasota. I grew up with Donzi in my life and for the most part in the "back yard" needless to say I wasn't really shocked when I heard the news though. I never really remember Donzi having an amazing marketing sense about them. What I do remember though was back in the day we used to tease the Baja guys about staying in when it was too rough out... And now hear they are owning the company. I just wanted to see what everyone thought about this, without starting an all out war here on the forum. The questions that arise in my head... Will build quality remain true to Donzi? Will marketing such and Iconic name be in a better light with Baja at the helm? What does Baja have to bring to the table for the "performance" of our boats? Or do you think Donzi will fall into the "family boat that even grandma can enjoy" catagory; Maybe not so much the Gentlemans hot rod they once were? What are your opinions? http://www.donzimarine.com/Donzi_Gir...es/Nell/02.jpg |
Only time will tell.
I would like to think it will be like Volkswagen group (Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Porsche, Lambo.) That seems to be working well and keeping brand quality up and individuality. However, I fear it will become either GM of the 80's where every model shares pieces parts with another. Or, worse like when AMF owned Harley-Davidson and they didn't get the product or the customer they were selling to and pumped out a bunch of mass produced crap that leaked on the showroom floor new. Again, only time will tell. .....unless I hit the Powerball tonight and buy Donzi..... :bunnydance: |
im thinking OSO needs a new owners forum section baja/donzi or maybe just bonzi :lolhit:

I have to agree, I think that baja has got some catch up to do with their design department... It has to be one of the worst looking boats on the water... Kinda funny actually i was flipping through my photos from the Miami Boat show recently and I had a gorgeous shot of the new DCB... then the next picture was the new baja :/ uhggg... only time will tell.. It can't be anyworse than when AMH bought Donzi and made bow riders....
