38Zx Eats Waves on Lake Mi

Fun in some 4-6' swells. A few hidden 8' to keep the addrenaline going.

What other boat can eat these waves so comfortably... none!
And, let you sleep comfortably watching movies afterward!

really....Those aren't small waves but 6-and 8 footers.

I need the OP to lend his ruler to my wife!!! :)

Wilks 09-24-2013 08:22 PM

they are wave crushers. Nice video.

Please tell me you didn't bottom coat a 38ZX.

POWERPLAY J 09-24-2013 08:35 PM

Cool vid. Drop some tab and put the throttles further forward next time. Maybe some vests too.

242LS 09-24-2013 08:54 PM

You're right. No other brand of boat could do that. :angry-smiley-038:

Great video. That is my FAVORITE thing to do.

Awesome footage; and that really does look comfortable. Maybe try running some West Coast breakers aka Donzi Water in NorCal next season even:

I agree, that is 60-70 mph water all day long....and would have been a smoother ride

The waves always look smaller on video. Looks like you guys had a blast. Carey Downs, Pier 57 sold me my little Donzi new in 2005 and it goes off shore on the Great Lakes all the time. :)

The last time I was out that inlet the swells were crashing over the bow a few hundred feet from the end. Lk MI is nasty but fun at the same time...

gotta love waves and fresh water. I've been in conditions like that a few times in our Donzi 38ZR and had to spend a whole day cleaning the salt out. nasty stuff.

That kind of water is fun and will deffinitely blow the cobwebs out of your head!!....Good for the soul...ARGGGGG!!!

Cool video, that many people in the cockpit in rough water and no one wearing a life jacket, yikes )-:

JcookMI 09-30-2013 09:07 AM

Of course I didn't bottom coat it hahaha.
Thats from being in the water in the Black River to long. Need to pull it and acid wash.

I kept it at about 25mph because we weren't wearing vests. It was slow....... For safety of Course.

I surprised how well my 311 did the faster I went in Erie slop, it went from bouncy bouncy to many small bumps. Not talking extreme fast but a difference of 30-40 and slop, not rollers. I don't think going any faster would o helped you there.
