Here all the pics I have so far. I have owned it since August but now it's stored for winter. I can not wait till next summer!

TPro587 10-30-2013 07:25 AM

Congrats, its a beautiful boat!

Wideopen30 10-30-2013 07:26 AM

Very nice, but don't store it send it south for the winter.

VoodooRob 10-30-2013 08:29 AM

There's a wallet from Pulp Fiction that describes this boat, "Bad Mo....F......" Congrats very jealous

thirdchildhood 10-30-2013 08:54 AM

I was hoping to not see a pair of 496s but, whoa, two ilmors?! Awesome! That thing has to really fly. I love it. :)

ChrisL 10-30-2013 10:00 AM

It goes a 100+ but I have not had it there. I have had it at 90 and the test drive we hit 97. It used to have Hering propellers and when I bought it it had Bravo 1's. I'm more than happy with the speed thus far and still getting comfortable with it.

ChrisL,

Congrats! Killer setup. Thought I saw this boat come by the house a few times late this summer (I am just down the river from O-Berg) looked great. Nice to have some killer setups roaming around that stretch of the river

That was probably our test drive. Got the boat at Aquamania.

Awesome boat! Congrats!

That is one of my top 5 paint jobs of all time.

I'll bet that boat would like a pair of 5 blade props.

PremierPOWER 10-30-2013 08:01 PM

100+ easily I'd say. 525's in a 35 is good for 93-95mph. I'd think 110+ all day. Awesome boat, congrats!!

What would be ideal props for this setup?

Thanks. I'll know better next year after I get more comfortable with it. It's a big move up for me I had a 24 outlaw for many years so this is a whole different monster!

Smart move to change up the drives to IMCO's the ilmors woulld have killed the Bravos. Congrats, beautiful boat with awesome power. You will love this boat!

That I can't help you with too much. I have 700hp per side on my boat, mind you it is staggered and I am between a 32 and a 34 pitch 5 blade. I turn my props in but I think yours turn out on a 35. I would talk to a prop guy and give them all your specs.

Just a word of advice.
I see you came out of a smaller Baja into this. Take your time learning this boat. I am close friends with the former owners and manager of Typhoon Marine who were one of the biggest Donzi dealers in the world for a number of years. They sold a number of 35s and ran one for a whole summer with 525's. That boat ran low to mid 90's and was a blast. However it became a handful at the top end. It is a real driver's boat over 90 so get to know it and take it slow. You will also see how efficient the hull is when you pull the throttles back and the boat keeps skimming along for a few more seconds before it slows down.

Was your previous boat a stepped hull?

Captain YARRR 11-01-2013 11:17 AM

Gorgeous! I bet you can't wait for prime summertime to come around again.

n20michael 11-01-2013 01:30 PM

Nice boat!

I have a summer place not far from Aqua Mania, on the CDN Side, look forward to seeing the boat tearing up the river next summer.

No it was not a stepped hull and I do plan to take it slow. It handles amazing but the time I hit 90 I did feel like I was not touching the water and it did make me nervous. All good things take time!

Rick Merrola from AquaMania put the ilmor's and IMCO's together in 2007. The boat is a 2006. After I test drove this it was so different than the other boats I test drove I had to have it.

GoFastScott 11-03-2013 07:42 AM

Take one of Tres classes, you will learn so much about how your boat works and you'll walk away a much better, more confident driver! Congrats, it is a beautiful boat!

I highly recommend either taking the Tres Martin class or at least spending a couple days with someone who REALLY knows a step bottom boat. I had a 29 Kryptonite before my Donzi and that was a stepped boat. I spent many days with very experienced drivers learning that boat and then did the same with my Donzi. Stepped hulls are very different than non stepped. What ever you do, DO NOT drop your trim and slow down in a turn. You have to learn to leave the boat trimmed, slow down first, and then turn. I find myself actually accelerating slightly through the turns to make sure the back end keeps its bite and the bow doesn't dig in.
It is unlike carving a turn in a non-step boat because if the bow catches it will lift the stern and spin you out faster than you can say "why an I wet?".
Don't let that scare you just learn what this boat can do and you will be amazed at how awesome it is,

-Tom

Very nice,

ChrisL 11-03-2013 12:33 PM

TomA. Thanks for the advise. I spent a day driving it with Rick Merrola and we did a good amount of starts and working on trim position for the boat. We did not do a lot of top end stuff or high speed turns he said that would be another day if I wanted to do that. If I decide to do a poker run Rick said he would be happy to go with me and show me the ropes more for that type of driving. I love the advice and will play with some of these suggestions next summer.

Tom A. 11-03-2013 08:13 PM

Rick knows these boats well.

Talk to him and spend a day with him in the spring. Even if you have to pay him, it is worth it.

Enjoy it and hopefully I will get up there for the 1000 Islands Poker Run this year.

ChrisL 11-03-2013 08:42 PM

Tom A. Sounds good and hope to meet you if you come up let me know.
