22 classic with trs

what kind of speed can you hope for in a 22 classic with 454 365hp trs drive and what would be the best prop boat has a bravo 1 22 pitch

olredalert 11-04-2013 07:02 PM

----Cant tell you about the prop, but speed should be a bit above 60 when things are right.........Bill S

Have you try this? I ask becuase I have a 20 Cigarette with a TRS and I have a few SSM II but I never tryed the speedys becuase they where longer and I thought it would lose a few MPH
Sorry for the tread Hi jack

The SSMII lower is 1" longer than the TRS. I'd think you would lose speed.

Sorry for the tread Hi jack

worked great on my friend jon's 20 cig...he had a 406 with a trs,,he also had a high x and a raised hatch..that drive put him rite where he needed to be,,that was over 10 yrs ago,,he also ran a 14'' dia. prop..

The 22s like a higher X/shorty lower so don't sell that Bravo 1 yet. I agree with the Mirage+ if running deep enough to bite. Don't know about the speed with your set-up but these hulls respond well to hp. Several are running over 100, many are running in 90s. Mine does 83-85.

Stock Bravo 1 props don't work great on these type hulls.
I'd try a 3 blade Merc Mirage, Mirage plus, or Turbo 1.
I'm running a 4 blade Merc Rev 4 with great luck. The Rev 4 is similar to the Mirage in dia and blade design only with 4 blades. May be worth a try...

Hmmm... stock or modified Bravo 1 Props? Carl has a raised X correct? I think I also read he's running a modified B1, but not totally sure. Carl is your prop stock?

I've had (3) 24X7s and (2) Donzi Classics and never had luck with a stock B1. Now with a modified for extra bow lift B1, I did have good luck on a 24' Superboat. I will tell you that from my experience, the Rev 4 works much better than a stock B1 on these old school hulls.
I will also tell you from my experience on a 24' Excaliber with a TRS, a B1 did not work at all; we ran a 3 blade Merc Cleaver or Merc Mirage.
A stock B1 is not the right prop for a 22C with a TRS...sorry...:eekdrop:

yes to all,,modified bravo 1 30 pitch,,imco -2 shorty..i guess its hit or mis with the b1 prop..yes the rev 4 is a great prop as well...dont think they make a pitch big enough for carl..i wish they made a turbo txp 3 blade in a 32 pitch for cart to try,,

Yup. XR upper, Imco -2" lower. Zeiger steering, 30p Bravo 1 labbed but not otherwise modified by BBlades. This is a proven combination for Bravo boats but not the only option. I don't know anything about the trs except that they have been out of production for quite awhile and a they use a transmission and a Bravo drive is not a bolt on option. Can any of us with Bravo boats really offer useful advice for a trs boat?
