I found this http://www.allardmarine.com/1970%20Brochure.htm
but its a cudy like the 19 hornet -- but it doesn't have the rounded windshield

I might be mistaken -- could be a 19 and not a 20 it measures 19 2"

P & d

I just did my home work and Got on a thread that Brownie
posted

Very interesting Brownie

I just picked up a 19.2 ' P & D (1971) very close to the Hornet-
I thought it was a Donzi -- It has Donzi tags on it - Regardless its Rock solid

so it looks to be a P&D

If it's 19'2'' that's the Donzi Hornet hull . It was also used for the St Tropez , an open centre console.
Whoever it was that built it/splashed it did their own thing with deck though . There was nothing like that from Donzi on that hull .
The deck isn't even similar near the hull/deck joint .

monzaman 02-17-2014 06:01 PM

That hull is a spitting image of the Monza 19 from these pictures, different deck.

monzaman 02-17-2014 06:03 PM

Can you post that Brownie link you mentioned. I am interested to know the story of these boats. Thx

All the 19' Monza's I have seen the bottom looked like this one that I posted a pic of.

smoketire 02-26-2014 08:13 PM

h2oboater-

its similar

http://www.allardmarine.com/1970%20Brochure.htm along with the 19 hornet
It looks like P&D copied or made similar then did there own deck

The thread Brownie was talking to was referring to a 24 p&d where they built the first 24 pant-eras
and how all the long narrow hulls originated from the Harry Schoell design from the 24 Magnum

He also stated that back then many boat company's got there starts coping a hull and printing them out
there is not much Data on P&D Peter and David so I was hoping to just get some feed back

I still have the hull and its 43 years old and Rock solid just very well might be a Resto project :)

Was Don's St. Tropez the beginning of the modern day open fish models of so many manufacturers?

madbouyz 03-15-2014 07:58 AM

I remember reading a l o n g time ago that the St Tropez was the industry's first 19' center console . Whether that means it was the first production center console of any size OR the first under 20' model remains unclear .
Brownie would more than likely know , though .

The St T was introduced in 1965 and I remember seeing my very first new Mako's and Aquasports in about 1968 or so.
Remember , Bertram also made the 20 Sportsman at about the same time as the St T was put out .

mattyboy 03-16-2014 09:46 AM

There was also a splash copy of the 19 made down under but it had a cuddy cabin style deck

more info on the 19 Donzi models can be found here

Walt Walters designed the Aquasports. In conversation with him he told me it was his second favorite design, the first being a trawler.
