Cant get in the engine bay?!

Has anyone had any experience with the hatch cylinder not working at all? Mine just quit on the last run of the boating season and I can not get into the engine bay at all. I figured that i would be able to lift the hatch by lifting enough to undo the top bolt on the cylinder it but it wont budge. I think the hatch cylinder is the problem because I checked everything with a multi meter and the switch is still working as it is supposed too and all the fuses are getting power and are not tripped. Anyway I figure there is a trick to get in there but I dont know it. Any help would be great.

You will have to access by removing your engine hatch hinges in the back! Unless you cant see them from outside?

This happened to me at the end of last season
The cause on mine was a broken battery switch killing the power to that circuit

Do you have removable vents? That's my game plan if needed.

Great Idea I never thought about attacking it from that perspective.

Well I tried to lift the hatch thinking i remembered there being a slot on the cylinder but It seems to bind up. I was going to try the hinges on the back of the hatch but the mounting hardware is covered by the hatch when it is closed i will have to remove the hinge pins to get the back undone. Hope i can figure something out soon.

Sorry to hear about your luck Tug. I have been able to lift mine when i had a problem. it's a heavy bastard, but i got it by myself. I may have talked dirty to it and that may have been the trick.

You should have a vent access under you rear bench so that you can get to the motor, might take some tries but there should be a way to open it if that ever happens. I'm pretty sure my has a access so I could at least get to part of it.

I took my engine hatch off last month to get it re upholstered and It is one heave SOB. I had a friend with me and it was still to heavy. I ended up taking out the mirrors and then just removing the box the vinyl was attached to and left the fiberglass attached to the lift.

Good luck.
