Default Fiber optic "Donzi" signage at rear of bolster

Hello everyone,

I'm working on my 1999 38Zx and just discovered that the small "DONZI" logo plates located at the rear of my two bolsters are actually fiber optic illuminated. The plates, which measure about 8.25" long by 1.75" high, light up with the cockpit lights, and because they're a bit aged, I'd like to replace them with new ones. I've checked DonziDirect and they don't carry any fiber optic replicas or otherwise. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Great! thanks for jumping on. I know they're out there somewhere, but I'm already planning on how to replicate the emblems if not though. I have a friend with a trophy shop that does engraving, etc., and thinking maybe he can cut out a piece of clear laminated plastic material and engrave the word "DONZI" to let the fiber optic light shine through. Then I just have to figure out how to re-attach the fiber optic lines. Maybe some two-sided tape....

I thought about having them cut out of aluminum or stainless and back lighting it with leds instead. Like a clear back plate the stainless over it would work I think.would even be a bit brighter and easier to see and could change the color scheme to.

Yes, that crossed my mind too. And it would hold up better and not crack on the corners.

gellis11 on here made some plexiglass panels for his donzi. I've been on his boat they look great he some how lit the panels up with LEDs to illuminate the panels. It looks factory. I think he used decals / stickers on the plexiglass and then sand blasted the plexiglass in the areas where the stickers were not covering. Then removed the decals and the pattern is etched into the plexiglass

if you shine a LED on the edge of a plexiglass panel what will light up is anything etched into it, or milled. Superbright. LED offers a mount to hold the LED on the edge of glass, works the same.

Is this what you guys are talking about?

Yes, I think that would work well. I'm going to see how my trophy friend's idea works out, and if no go, I'll move forward with your suggestion. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!
