air intakes on zx models
The air intake on the sides of the boat are a nice an big opening but the hole in to the engine area is quite small. Has any one opened that hole up or added a second one to get more fresh air in there? If so did it help in any way or make a difference good or bad. I always thought you can't have to much fresh air for the motors but want to get some options before I do it this spring.

mine has several holes on each intake. Can't remember if there are 2 or 3 holes. They are around 2" or 2 1/2". I'll will have to look when I get it back this week.

I think it would be better to let the hot air out the back.

Finally got a chance to look at my ZX. The intake on my boat has a divider about 3/4's the way to the stern. The front part has 3, 2 and 1/2 inch holes, and the rear section has one four inch hole for the bilge blowers. (Set up the same in each side of the boat). The intake holes look factory to me. Has gelcoat on the inside of the holes...

Ok thinks I'm pretty sure mine only has on hole for the intake becouse when I put led lighting in the intakes I ran the wire throw it and thought that might be restricting the amount of air getting in. When I open it up in a week or two I will look again.

I would think the same thing... More air.... More better....

My 38 has one oval hole for inlet. Heat kills horsepower so getting a flow of air through makes sense. Cig did front and back openings on the 38 TG

Had a chance to take a picture of the intake. Hope it gives you better idea.
