Prop help 1969 16 classic

Was running a 23p volvo prop on a aq250 with 302 ford hm. Getting 50mph at wop 5000 rpm.
Changed lower to aq280 so I can have more prop options. Started with a 23p Volvo "big ear". Handles well... 45mph at 4200 rpm... seems to have loads of power left. When I mat the throttle... the transom is swinging hard left... so I have to get off the throttle. I still think I would be close to 5000rpm at 50mph though.
It has been suggested to try a 26p ultra..
Any ideas on either the transome getting loose or prop choice?

I'm assuming you have nothing but basic cable steering is why your feeling the torque. I would try to get your hands on a clever prop. And don't think about steering above 50 mph. You'll need 2 guys on the wheel

Wasnt torque I was feeling. The transom was literally trying to spin out.
Moved the leg up one peg hole.
Way better. Now I feel some torque but I can adjust the skeg to help with that.
Tonight... 54mph at 4300rpm... still throttle left. It wasnt a perfectly glassy night.
This prop may be a good start. Boat doesnt seem to mind turning the 23p.

did a ton of testing on my 67 16 . ran anything from a custom spinelli to a modified merc chopper, cleaver, elephant eared Michigan. the best two props are the Volvo SS ultra 22 24 26 pitch they are fast and carry the bow high which can be a bad thing on a 16 skisporter hull the short inner strakes and the rounded keel it will chine walk or be squirelly . the other issue is stern lift which brings the nose down and it will bow steer and the azz end will try as pass you. the other and best prop I had was the solas titan with 310 hp and a 1.6 drive my best was 62 mph and would run high 50s all day in anything I could handle no ventilation in turns, no cavitation they run 19 21 23 they also have single digit slip ratings where the ultra run at 12-15% slip so add an inch or two of pitch to the solas.

this testing was done after all play and slack was taken out of the steering a little play and it will be a white knuckled short staining ride

Some more thoughts I wasn't clear with the Solas ad an inch of pitch to the number a 19 is more like a 20 on my 16 with a 310 hp 351w I used a 21 Solas on my hornet with. 240 hp 302 I am using a 19 Solas
The ultra is known for weak hubs they spin the hub very easily a good prop shop can press a Michigan hub into it the ultras can be hard to find and when you do they can be pricey
