1988 Donzi 22 - 25th Anniversary

Hi all, new to the forum but wanted to try and gather some information on my uncles 1988 22 25th anniversary. The story I’ve heard is that these were always limited to 10 per year and that this specific boat is special because in 1988 Donzi had some issues with production for one reason or another resulting in a very limited number of these being sold for
the 25th anniversary. My uncle claims this is the only one in existence after he did research back when he bought it some years ago.

My question to anyone who may know is, can anyone confirm or deny this? Finding info from that long ago can be difficult and from a curiosity standpoint I’d like to know.

The longer story on this particular boat is that my uncle is in the market to sell it and he’s tasked me with marketing it since he doesn’t enjoy using computers. Any help or info outside of the sales brochure from 1988 would be really helpful.

I appreciate your input in advance!

I assume it's gray, gray interior?

I had a 20' Minx that was originally a 25th. It's kind of an oddball boat... They quite literally got the dates wrong so it wasn't really the 25th anniversary. For example, the 40th anniversary edition is a 2004 which is correct. They built more than one, a Donzi friend of mine has one (or at least had one, haven't talked in a while). There were multiple special editions in 1988 (the more popular being the Testarossa) and they didn't sell many anniversary boats because people didn't really like them. The gray just doesn't pop like the other classic colors. And on top of that here in 2024... Donzi has had a buttload of special edition 22's which waters down the market. The 40th is well liked, there is a 50th, now a 60th... also Shelby, Aronow, 009, they literally had one just called 'limited edition', etc.

So what it comes down to for value is simply how nice it is, how it runs, and how it's been kept up

Post up a bunch of pictures of it on the trailer. Include inside, outside, engine bay, and possibly one of it in the water.

I appreciate that. It’s actually red and white as it should be. I’ll get some pictures of it up this weekend hopefully.

You need to have made 10 posts before you can post pics. You can make frivolous posts, e.g. post 4. Post 5. Post 6 etc to get there.
I think Donzi built their first hull in 1963 but the company wasn’t officially incorporated until 1964, hence the anniversary model dates may vary. They did have numerous limited editions, probably limited to how many they could sell that year…..:)

I don’t think it’s a super rare collectors item but pretty much all 22’s are classic and have a place in the hearts of enthusiasts. A few pics posted will certainly generate attention. Good luck.

RR.

If it is red and white it's just a regular 1988. The anniversary edition is gray hull sides, gray stripe, gray interior, red pinstripes and piping on the seats.

I’m in the market for a 22. Could you please provide additional info/pics and your asking price? Thanks, Chuck.
