25zx k-plane upgrade?

I've got a 97 25zx with stock trim tabs the boat likes some tab input I feel like it would benefit from some longer tabs. Has anyone put k-planes on a 25zx if so what length ect. Thanks.

Don't know about the donzi side of things but I put 280 k planes on my 28 nordic heat and it will damn near stop the boat if you drop them all the way down. If you end up switching, be very careful after the swap as they bite hard and you can get in trouble really quick especially on a 25 ft boat.

What are the stock tabs? Can you make or have some bigger plates made and save a ton of work? It's a pretty big job to swap to k planes....pumps, fill the transom, redrill all the holes, lines, switches, etc....just a thought.

Many years back, I upgraded from Bennett Trim Tabs 12" length to 16" length, which is roughly the size of a 280 K-plane; on a 26' Sonic which is essentially a 25' hull. The difference was a notable improvement for planing and setup/tuning adjustments. You are on the right track with going to hydraulic trim tabs. Just because the Bennett route that I went was easy, does not mean they were stronger.

I'm pretty sure mine are 12s the boat porpoises without some tab input. Not a lot of info out there on the 25zx so I was curious how it would react to longer tabs. Thanks for the replies for sure.

Sydwayz just from pictures id say your sonic 26 and the 25zx are pretty similar in hull design no step pretty deep v and heavy would you agree?

Yes

Might not be related but when i first got my 2000 22ZX and was learning how to use it, I noticed i was always playing with the tabs. Now it was a step hull and a little smaller but i realized i had the drive trimmed down too much. I gave it a couple of bumps up and I didn't have to use the tabs as much. It wasn't the boat just so much me positioning the drive down too much.

we run 380s on a 25 foot thunder they work awesome but you do need a gauge to know where they are
