Crossbow??

Whats the deal with the Crossbows? I have peeked at a couple in the past but never riden in one. Seems all the boats I've seen for sale are priced very reasonable to down right cheap.

Are they dogs? Handling problems?

I'm not knocking the Donzi's at all - just curious about the Crossbows. :drink:

Re: Crossbow??

RebarBox: I have noticed that most of the Z29's for sale are priced at what seems to be very low, they are the next size down from the Z33 Crossbow. I have read that all or most of the Z series had serious stringer issues, rotting to be specific. I rode in a 29' in 6' to 8' confused seas in Boston Harbor years ago and it was one of the best boat rides ever, the boat handled the rough stuff great and caught some serious air. I know you inquired about the Crossbow but all I am familiar with is the 29' for the most part, but they are essentially the same beast...Matt

Good looking boat Cuda!

I have always liked the Crossbows - just curious about the resale on them.

I ran across this on the Donzi board. Looks like a helluva lot of boat for the money.

1992 Z-33 for sale...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While in a Poker Run this weekend with Mike Miller we were surprised to find One other DONZI running with us that came from Vancouver. Anyways, after talking with the owner for way too many beers, he indicated that he has been trying to sell it for a long while. I took a couple of pics of it, and shortly I will have more as they become available. I was at the end of my camera capacity. It looks nice, runs well, sounds great and has about 210 hours on it I believe. It is all there. Teal in colour, a pair of 502's, OMC King Cobras', closed cooling system, fresh aluminum heads of some sort, IMCO exhaust on both engines, bilge is spotless etc etc etc. It runs about 65 GPS 'cuz we were beside him for a while and as well he has GPS and all sorts of elctronics in the boat included.

Next, there is the NEW Aluminum Triple Axle trailer that it comes with in the price. I know little about it other than that, and certainly Donzigo and the rest will chime in.

The price ??? He is asking $28,000 Canadian so figure about $20K US. It is located in Vancouver, B.C... More to follow shortly when I get them.

[email protected] will get you one of the two owners.

More pics to follow soon...

Re: Crossbow??

20K....

Thats what I am talking about! :eureka: I have seen quite a few in that price range and seems that they all had the Cobra drives. I know Donzi makes a nice boat and its seem that they should be selling for more. Is it the drives? Are the Cobras crap?

Re: Crossbow??

Actually, the King Cobra's are thought by many to be stronger than a Bravo. Most of them have the OMC 460 Fords in them, and marine parts for them aren't as readily available as BBC. This one however, already has the 502 Merc mags.

Re: Crossbow??

There seems to be some discrepency on the price now. Now I read it's $110,000!!!!!!! He'll have it until his grave at that price. :(

Re: Crossbow??

I have the KC drives too.

The only thing that has let me down is a prop shaft failure.

We read did them in one peice stainless 57T and put the mercury racing hi performance spline pattern on.

Re: Crossbow??

1986-1989 were good years for Donzi. The 25,29 and 33 were great boats that still look good today.1990 brought the 30 black widow series and an inferior build quality.Stay away from the omc setup.

I like them. I just did an upgrade to mine on the dash and it makes the boat look like a newer model. Its about to go on the market though found a bigger boat...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I gather an '89 Black Widow (30') is not as good as earlier Donzis? Are they comparable to a Formula? Did any of them come with Mercurys?
Thanks,
David

heres my old 89 Crossbow......if it didnt get ripped off I would still have it.....no reason to change.......the pic doesnt show it but it was a beautiful brilliant Teal, the boat had only 220 hrs on it and was mint inside and out, not a mark or a rip or a fade on her anywhere.......at 190 hrs the previous owner removed the 460 King Cobras ad installed 502 mpi's and Bravos, pretty cool for 1995

The Crossbow hull has a timeless look, imo. There's a guy by me that has had his blue or black Crossbow sitting on blocks beside his house for as long as I can remember. Looks sharp even when it's out of the water. What's the width on one of these?
