Somewhere I saw a pic of this "fin" on a Doug Wright hull, They appear to run a tapered fin/wall from the bottom of the tunnel up towards the transom extending the tunnel to the back.
I would guess to hold the air in the tunnel a little longer, probably helps carry the tail with the motors back on brackets. $ .02
