Vibration when comming off plane
Last year I noticed a slight vibration in the drive when I was slowing down while dropping off plane. The upper and lower were just redone. I'm not sure if the problem existed before the rebuild or not. I know if you drop the stick back a little quicker you didn't feel it. Kinda weard. If you let the boat fall off slow you would feel it as it fell through to a plow.
Didn't feel it anywhere else. I ran the boat for a couple of days and it seemed fine. I pulled my engine after that for a rebuild in the fall last year. I even kind of forgot about it because I normally slow down off plane fast enought not to feel it anyway. I wondered about rotating the prop on the shaft to see if it made any difference. I have a new motor going in soon and I was reviewing all the things I want to check out. Any thoughts?? |
Alpha,Bravo or TRS??

Bravo xz 1.5

What prop? I had a set of hydromotives that would do it.

bravo 1, 4 blade ,26 bone stock

My Fountain does that a little bit as well. I take my time slowing down and when a boat is in that transition, there's a lot of turbulence back there and the prop is beginning to submerge as well. My prop will bite hard around 20 and the RPM's will drop by 500 or so. A lot of stress on things at this time. This is why I always plane at 1/2 throttle until the prop breaks free. Probably nothing to worry about. Never a bad idea to have the prop checked out as well.

thanks unsane,
I wondered if it always did that and I was just overly senisitive to it after putting the drive back on. I may send the prop out to be balanced. |
I have a 26p bravo one on my 27 and its vibrates for a couple of seconds getting out of the hole. I think the prop just needs to be worked.

Doesn't hurt to have the prop checked out. I'm told Panteras are kind of on the heavy side. My advice is not to floor it coming out of the hole.

That was my first guess, the prop biting and leting go.. Call a prop shop and talk to them.. they probably can explain what is going on. I would think Julie at Throttle up can fill you in..
