Water in Bellows
Last year I replaced the entire transom assembly with HP gimbals on my late 80's B1's. The drives do not have the oil reserve set up. On the bellhousings there's an O-ring which seals the mating surfaces. I sealed the hole in the bellhousing where the tube would exit. When I started removing the drives I noticed while loosing the bolts water started dripping from the point in question. Upon further inspection there where several table spoons of sea water and corrosion in that area.
The only thing I can think of what is causing this is the older B-1's has a notch/indentation (on both sides) between the midle and upper stud hole. Looks like there is not enough surface on the drive itself to seal against the O-ring. Any thoughts or anyone has had this problem ? |
