Outdrive Serviced ??

How long (hours) do you guys typically wait to service the outdrive on a freshwater boat.

How much cost does it typically run servicing twin bravo one outdrives?

Thanks in advance

I would have the drive serviced at least once a season. It will usually be a 2 hour charge per drive and cost of gearlube and mounting kit. The cost will depend on the labor rate of the shop doing the job.

What do you mean by "service", PM or overhaul?

When the drive gets serviced they pull the drive check alignment, gimble bearing, gimble ring, u-joints, leaks, bellows, and change gearlube.

I service mine every winter when boat is put up. I actually go a little further. All of the above is the external service. I go a bit more by breaking down the complete drive, taking all the guts out to inspect, internal bearings, gear wear(pitting), shafts and prop shaft is very important, can not be more than 6 thousdands out or you could break a shaft and loose your prop. That is the drive service for me, by this you can find early little problems that can turn HUGE!!!

We charge $250.00 for that a drive. Not bad for side money??
