Rolling Torque Alpha1

I am working on a 1986-87 vintage Alpha Or #1 .What is the prop shaft rolling torque on the lower with used bearings? New bearings?

Thanks
Rob

Per the Merc #6 drive manual there is no rolling torque number for the propshaft bearings. I've rebuilt a few now and for the lower you simply shim the pinion gear and get the correct forward and reverse gear backlash.

If you meant the upper driven gear bearings they are 6-10 " lbs for NEW and 2-4 " lbs used.

Let me know if you have any questions as I am pretty good rebuilding Alpha 1's.

vertical drive shaft should be 2.5-4

on an alpha there is no rolling torque on the lower...shim the pinion gear hieght and the back lash on forward and reverse.
Not difficult but can be time consuming to take it apart and put it back together several times.......
