Drive shower on new bravo with finned cap

I have only found two drive showers that will work with the new style Bravo X with the finned top cap. Both Eddie Marine and Rex Marine say theirs will not work. Dana Marine states that theirs will work and the "halo" style showers will work.

I have not been a fan of the halo style due to some cavitation problems with the dual pickups.

Has anyone installed the Dana Marine Ultra H2O drive shower? I am not a big fan of the style of the pick up, but it might be my only choice.

Has anyone used anything else that might work?

Innovative Marine has one I believe. I'm pretty sure this is what MentalPause is running on his new XR Sportmasters. Look like nice units.

simrek's new "halo" style bolts to the trim ram stud, no more drilling. I just put one on....nice unit.

I like the idea of the halo shower, but have heard several complaints about cavitation. I wonder if having the pick ups further out would help eliminate that.

Matt,
I have adapted several different showers to the new caps, because I like the cap I try to install it on all the drives I do. What style do you want to use and lets see if it can be installed. Usually I mount the caps with studs and have coupler nuts that are a couple inches tall that work well with the full cap type or the Simrek Halo. But the it sounds like Simrek made a change in that dept..

Do you have any pics of what you want to use.. ??

The Simrek comes with a plastic washer that goes under the pin that goes thru the pipe, both above the cavitation plate. That spaces the pickup just below the plate. If the plastic washer is not there, then it might be causing cavitation problems?? But I have not experiencced any with my setup or ones I have done for customers. I do have a stand off box, so it is a little differnt setup than yours. Not sure that makes much difference.

D*ck.

D,

The design I liked the best is the Rex shower. I really liked the design of the pick up on it. I talked to the guys at Rex and they said their top cap would not fit the new finned cap and they would not sell me the individual parts to adapt my own. (see first and second pictures)

Dana Marine makes a nice shower and I have been talking with Bob Jeanblanc there and even though the design of their pick up is a little odd looking he states that it does not affect cavitation at all since it is placed behind the prop. (see third picture)

I like the Simrek design and if you have had good luck out of them I may just give it a try. I just hate to spend the money on one and find that I need to go a different rout.

Matt,
did Rex describe how their cap is fastened to the old style cap? It would be nice to know, and maybe it can be modified to fit. Of course you would think they could do that..
I know what you mean about RD, gets costly. Give me a call.. I sent you a pm..

D*ck
