price for prop shaft install bravo one

can someone please give me an idea of the cost of replacing the prop shft on a bravo one.parts and labor. also how big of a job to do it myself if I had the correct tools?

The corect tools are the problem......you'll spend quite a bit on them alone. Prop shaft is around $400 (I have usually found them used for around $150 and checked them over). Labor probably $150 for just the lower/shaft. (plus a $25 crush ring when they put it back together.

Doing it yourself isn't that hard. You need the wrench for the ring that holds in the carrier, the driver for the carrier seal, the clamping plate, and a 0-15 in lb torque wrench. I made up my own carrier puller out out a generic bearing puller. A shop press is probably necessary with a gear separator. Parts wise, aside from the shaft and crush ring, you have to replace the carrier bearing (propshaft bearing) and should replace the seals. The parts retail around 600-700 total. Having it done for you would probably cost in the nieghborhood of 1k. The merc tools can be bought for around 150, the torque wrench for around 50 and you definitely need the service manual for the drives. When I did my drive, I had way more time than money, so I shopped around for a while and bought what I really needed and made what I could. It isn't hard once you have an appropriate work setup.

Its probably about 3 hours of labor plus parts. I would just pay to have it done.
