Snapped Shift Cable- Stuck in Reverse

Yes, this weekend saturday, pulling in to my dock, my shift cable snapped almost burried my boat into the dock. A little luck, missed everything.
(these are Bravo 1 drives)
New problem--will not shift out of reverse. Installed new cable but, will not get out of reverse. Tried to beat the cable hook point, will not shift, can anybody give some advice to correct this. thanks jim

Did you break the cable from control to shift plate? Must have if you changed it. Have somebody rotate prop while moving shifter.

Yes, the cable broke on control to shift plate. the cable from the shift plate to outdrive looks to be connected.

Did get someone to rotate prop while you move shifter?
Did it shift smooth before it broke or was it getting progressively more difficult. If you don't have any other problems turning prop should get you going.

Sorry to hear no good news. You couldn't move prop in either direction? It seems next course of action is to check the shift cable to drive and the drive itself.

Try the drive. Sounds like you have the clutch jamed in to the cone. good luck with it but pull the drive or better yet take it to a dealer and let them fix it

It does sound like the cone clutch is stuck or welded into the gear. Best to have the upper taken apart and looked at.

Not good news, I am sorry to say.
