Konrad or Merc
Which drive is going to give more hours of service and dependablity? Is stronger? Konrad or Merc NXT.
|
I don't think you will be able to get the NXT without buying a 700sci package.
|
My guess is probably the Konrad depending on power and the NXT is supposed to only be available as a complete assembly as Griff mentioned. I haven't seen a whole lot of real world information on the NXT as of yet...
|
I've got WAY more trouble free hours out of our Konrads than any Merc I've owned other than SSM drives. I think my Konrad customers will agree as none of them have had a drive fail yet either. Not saying the Konrads won't brake, we just haven't seen it yet.

considering the nxt uses the internals of a #6 i would think they are more dependable.

They do?!?!? |
The trany for the NXT has the same cone clutch design as the Bravo and we all know how reliable that is.
|
All speculation until the Fat Lady Sings!
I heard rumor of a 1075hp motor in front of an NXT setup in a 30' boat and it didnt break. But, we wont know until she does sing... There are always issues with new products, and it will be awhile till the public can get there hands on them. Although there are people splitting packages already, they are very pricey.. Just my 02. |

as i am told yes. but i am no drive expert, unless when it comes to finding their limitations. |
Are the NXT's a upgrade from Bravo's or the next generation #6?
|
The trany for the NXT has the same cone clutch design as the Bravo and we all know how reliable that is. If you look real hard you can find a coulpe of NXT drives that someone has seperated form the motors for sale, I believe that it was $50,000.00 for a pair |
If you can buy an NXT separate, what is the warrnaty honestly and what HP are you putting this on?
Konrad offers 1 year on 800 HP. They are unbelievable people to deal with and are not a huge money grubbing machine like Merc. :D Again, if I can be of any assistance with techinical data, real world installation help or pricing, please let me know at: [email protected] Kirk |
DaveTic,
where did you hear that price?? I heard $75/pr.. |
I've had great customer service from Konrad. Kurt has been great to deal with, always there to answer questions and help out. Try getting somone on the phone at merc, and then try to get satisfaction. Just my experience so far. The drives did what they were supposed to do as advertised. I'd buy them again.

I looked real hard and found a pair for $75k and NO warrenty unless you couple them to approved Merc power. I'll stick to the Konrads for $50k for a complete package with warrenty, customer support, lattitude to couple to anyones power package and a real solid trany from BAM. |
Konrad Drives will be the next replacemnt drive for Bravo drives. Our company has done two Sonic Boats and both owners are very happy. For more info on Konrads please call Doller Offshore Marine @954-237-0332. Ask for Mac or Mindi and you can also visit the web site www.dolleroffshore.com

I didn't remember how much, just thought it was to much. $75 could be right.
