650's with Bravos

Is running 650's with bravo's asking for a problem?

How much are they to replace?
How much would it cost to upgrade with somehting more indestructible.

Boat is 28 Apache.....

Unfortunately the weight of the boat will eventually stress the gears and you will have an issue.

If you're light on the sticks until on plane and don't hammer it, you will be ok for a while. Best bet is to have a spare and change your oil often, it seems to make them last longer. Articfriends (Smitty on OSO) has a gear treatment that has been working well for him on the Bravo drives. I hope they are at least XR's

If you get fed up and want to put it all behind you, a pair of Konrads would be the bulletproof set up. We could offer you a warranty as long as you stay under 800 HP.

Good luck and don't hesitate to email me for more info at"

I had a 31 Sonic with Procharged 502s. Supposedly had 640 hp each. Drives were original 1990 Bravo 1s. 180 hrs and no problems.

650's triples on my 50 nortech, 2years no problems, any drive can be broke, it's the driver who normally causes the problems.

Are we talking regular Bravo's or XR's? I had 800HP on XR's when I bought my boat. Previous owner blew XZ's and replaced them with XR's....boat had 100 hrs on it. Now I'm 30-35 hrs with 650HP and 700/TQ with no issues yet (but I did pick up a spare XR just incase!!!).

BTW: 38 Formula....12,000 lbs. with fuel :)

He has 2-650hp engines. Not 650 total like you do...:D

Mine were Bravos, not XRs

650HP with Bravos , and a 28 ft boat, should not be a problem. It all comes down to driving habits. If your really worried, send them to BAM. They will be stronger than XR's when finished.
