Volvo cutout Vs Bravo cutout
I have a spare motor and bravo drive and was looking at a new (used) boat. Some of the models I am looking at have the volvo drive. My motor is a 562hp 509 with the mercruiser dressings. I also have the Bravo drive but not the transom plate. Is the cutout similar at all? Who has done something like this? How tough is the single prop volvo drive? If I keep the volvo drive do I need the volvo motor mounts and belhousing? can I cover the transom hole with an extention box then add the bravo? any help here would be great Thanks Greg

The late model volvo products, with the
exception of the DPX, use the same cutout as the merc. cutout. If you buy something with say a SX ( single prop, or the dual prop version of it) drive, pull it, sell it, and buy a bravo transom assy. If it wasn't a performance application, I'd leave the volvo drive on it. The volvo drive is a pretty good piece. |
cool so what happens with the dpx? is the hole bigger or smaller?

What about propellor interchangebility? Can I keep a Volvo and use my merc props? Can it handle the 560 HP or there abouts?

The DPX uses a bigger hole.
Props, not shure on that. |
