Imco Box and drive shaft ???

I wonder if anyone can help me with a question I have?

I am adding a 12" Imco extension box and don't know what drive shaft to order. My XR is and older style 2004 NOT the sweep back version. I used the gimble bearing conversion kit from Merc PN#30-862540A2 per the marina that ordered the drive. Imco has 2 choices for the drive shaft.

DS-12-X DRIVE SHAFT BRAVO XR 7/04 & EARLIER BEARING CAP DIA 1.328

or

DS-13-X DRIVE SHAFT BRAVO XR 7/04 & LATER BEARING CAP DIA 1.217

Not sure what they are measuring here...I can get another bearing assembly and measure, but not sure WHAT to measure???

Help...xrracer

I would just call Imco. They are always willing to help.

xr,
there are two different size cross bearings for the XR drives. The older style has a larger dia cap. The new ones are metric. and a bit smaller. The measurement they are talking about I believe is the dia of the cross bearing cap.
The B1 is the smallest (old style) and it also was replaced with a metric unit. Both Metric input shafts dont have zerk fittings, easiest way to tell.
If you had to install the gimble bearing then more than likely you have the large (old style) XR input shaft and I suspect, not in the shop at the moment to measure it, but the, 1.328" is probably the one you need.
Like Vinny says, give them a call they will make sure you get the correct one for your setup..
Hope this helps..

Dick

Vinny / Dick

Thanks for the input. I spoke with Imco today and they verified that you are in fact correct Dick. It is the diameter of the u-joint cap on the shaft and, again, you are correct that it is the 1.328" bearing cap. This is a little confusing. Thanks for the help. Gotta love OSO! xr

If Back4more doesn't have his shafts anymore and you still need a pair, I have a set of DS-12-S shafts for pre 2004 Bravo 1 drives.
