could this scenario apply to a 1998 performance bravo one? my leak started over the winter.before storing I had lower unit serviced, no water in unit.after it sits about 8-10 months I've got about a tblspoon full of lube in a cup draining from water pickup. local boat mechanic say's he can't quite wrap his head around why fluid would be coming out at the water side.

That is the seals between the upper and lower.

My 99 drive leaks there too. I dropped the lower last week and there was no oil in the water passage inside the lower case. It's leaking past the al disc that sep the water and oil in front if the prop shaft. A light press fit and locktite is all that's used to seal it. I'm going to machine it for an O-ring to fix it.

This is the puck in question. It's located right in front of the forward prop shaft bearing race/shims. It's threaded for a 5/8 puller. Came right out

Ok so got my Bravo2 back form the shop after a service. Upper pinion and seal changed and lower half serviced.
Installed on boat filled with gear lube. Now I see small amount of lube coming out of water intake. Any ideas? This orange seal they mention in post where is it located? Maybe they forgot to put it in? Could it be that puck still?
What if they did not use merc orings. I have serviced the lower myself last year with no problems. 1 question always came up about the proper procedure on installing the 2 O-rings . bellows sealant on one side and lube on the other? Was wondering what your take was on this. Thanks a bunch. jp

Just ran across this post and my 1997 B1 without LWB had the same issue and after several repairs that didn't work I replaced the complete outdrive. That was 3yrs ago
