zincs on k-planes?

Who has zincs on their K-planes? Is this a good idea?

I do. My last 2 boats both had them when I bought them.

Me too.
Zinc is a less noble metal than aluminum, so it gets eaten up instead of the K-plane.

I don't have any on my Tabs....but my boat lives on my lift. I'm only in the water overnight 5 times a year or so and they haven't corroded (or fallen off) yet!!:D

My alumn k-planes would get covered in white specs, as every knick in the paint started to corrode on the bottoms. There was no sign of this when I first got the boat 4+ years ago because it had spent most it's life in fresh water. During the first season I sanded them down and repainted (with rattle paint), but it redeveloped again, quickly. I realized it was not from lack of paint, but because they didn't have zincs, and drilled holes to attach one on each. Now they stay clean. This occured even though I am in brackish, not pure ocean salt, and the boat is pulled and rinsed well after each use - only spending the night wet when I'm too tanked to back up a trailer :):)

Zinc 'em !!
