Installing gimbal assembly

When installing a XR transom assembly do you use a sealant or just the rubber gasket?

When I removed mine it had sealant. Not sure if that was the correct way or not.

If it does need sealant, what would be recommended?

just the gasket should be enough, clean the transom area good where it will seal and install, make sure there is no gap on the new seal where the ends meet. maybe a dab a silicone in that area.

My book said to lubricate the gasket with 2-4-c or light grease so the gasket can slide into its place while tighening the transome down.I did this on both of my transoms two years ago and no leaks what so ever.
