Drive lube upper hole leaking
After changinf fluid last week I noticed a trickle of fluid leaking from the side screw
I installed brand new plugs and washers as the others were over 8 years old. Port side upper is the only one leaking. I am worried that if it leaks out, water pressure will push it back in ;( What can be done to seal this up? Really hate pulling this screw out again to loose antoher bottle of fluid :) |
It is possible part of the old washer stuck in place. Now new washer has no chance of sealing. If you pull the plug with the top tight you won't lose much fluid. I use a #2 slotted screw driver to scrape the surface clean. Also a possibility if you put a washer on a plug intended to use a o-ring. I hate them. They were only used for a short while.
Its easier to make it right than it is to repair later. |
I was able to get the old washer out of there, guess I am thinking there is a possibility of old materials left?
but it seemed like all of it came out. I fear that i might have scraped it 'too' much? This is a OEM plug i replaced it with, has hte fiber washer. I would almost prefer an o-ring? but not sure how that would hold up with the water pressure. What was used for a short time? O-ring or washer? |
o-ring on early bravo's, propably 91-93 vintage. check for debris on the sealing surface, turn fluid bottle upside down and you won't lose much.
