Bravo cooling

If you switch to a transom water pickup is it nessessary to still let water flow through the drive. In other words, should you loop the hose and just discharge the water overboard?

Is the drive not picking up enough water? Why would you switch to a transom mount?

A buddy has a bravo Top Gun that has transom water pick-ups. Soemone used the drive water pick-ups to discharge water right onto the top of the drives (like a drive shower). We hung over the transom one weekday in calm water at 40mph to see water dumping right on the drive at speed......pretty cool set-up I thought.

I was thinking of doing the drive shower thing but just wanted to know if it was necessary to keep water flowing through the drive.

It is necessary to run water thru Bravos for cooling.

Here is what I did on my Pantera. It also had a dump out the side of the boat for excess water.
